Alabama in 2015 saved $4.5 billion in health care costs, thanks to generic drug prescriptions, according to a new study.
The study, compiled by the QuintilesIMS Institute for the Generic Pharmaceutical Association, tracked generic drug savings on a state-by-state basis, in addition to age groups and payor types. Alabama's savings clocked in slightly above the national average of $4.4 billion in savings per state.
