Last year, 100 Oregon doctors received $9 million from drug manufacturers and medical device makers.
This information comes courtesy of the Sunshine Act, a component of the Affordable Care Act that went into effect in 2013 and requires all industry payments to be reported to a public database. All told, $2.6 billion in non-research payments for everything from royalties to travel were made by drug and device developers to U.S. teaching hospitals and physicians in 2015.
