Lahey Health's workforce has shrunk by more than 250 in the last year, helping the Burlington-based health system reduce wage costs and operate profitably.
The reductions occurred in two ways in the first nine months of fiscal 2016 – the first being layoffs of approximately 130 people. Though the layoffs, affecting approximately one percent of the hospital’s staff, were announced in May 2015, they didn’t begin to occur until fiscal 2016, a spokesman said.
