It’s almost a given that patients who arrive at the emergency room who aren’t in imminent danger of dying can wait hours before they see a doctor, especially in large cities.
“The hospitals I trained at were very often crowded to situations where it no longer felt safe,” said Dr. Benjamin Sun, a professor of emergency medicine in the OHSU School of Medicine. “This experience has been reported by folks all over the country.”
