I was journaling before it became a verb.
While I’ve never kept a formal diary, writing a mainly personal column for many years has pretty much fulfilled the same function for me that journaling does for others: venting, exploring and recording. The difference is that my journals, unlike those kept by others, always have to be spelled correctly and fact-checked.
