Unemployment in Silicon Valley tumbled to a 10-year low in May.
According to the California Employment Development Department, the unemployment rate in the San Jose metro area (Santa Clara and San Benito counties) was 3.4 percent.
That's a significant drop from both the previous month and year — in April, unemployment was 3.7 percent, while in May 2015 it was 4.2 — and well below California's 5.2 percent unemployment. (See infographic at bottom for historical data.)
