Mayo Clinic has struck a licensing deal for technology that aims to improve virtual-reality experiences — and keep them from making people sick.
The Rochester, Minn.-based clinic's Galvanic Vestibular Stimulation (GVS) system combines hardware, software and algorithms to give scenes in movies and video games a real-life feel. Mayo invented the technology and has now licensed it to Los Angeles-based vMocion, an entity created through a partnership between Mayo and Hillstrom Media Technology.
