When Gov. Kate Brown practiced family law before she entered politics, she had a client whose children were in foster care and who was afraid to leave her house.
“It was only through a lot of prying over the phone that I learned she wasn’t comfortable going out in public because she didn’t have any teeth,” Brown said in an interview today.
Because the Oregon Health Plan started covering dental care, the woman was able to get dentures and lead a productive life, Brown said.
